RESEARCH INFORMATION:
I study nonlinear microscopy of biological systems. I develop microscopes, and use them for to help understand the structure function relationships in biological systems.

We've developed two nonlinear microscope systems, and are working on a third; a three-channel multicontrast nonlinear imaging microscope for biological imaging, our current workhorse, a secondary system which features stage scanning as well as lifetime measurements for multiphoton excitation fluorescence, and a third system currently under development which features ultrafast scanning for nonlinear microscopy.

In biological research I'm focusing on biological nano-crystals including photosynthetic light-harvesting antenna in pigment protein complexes, starch granules, as well as on semiconductor materials including nanorods, nanowires and quantum dots.
